J. F. Kane and Company has a rich history of providing construction coordination services and inspections to owners, lenders, developers and contractors.

Initially established in 1979 to provide general contracting and construction management services, the company operated as a general contractor on rehabilitation and new construction projects. It also provided construction risk management services on a contractual basis to a major multi-family rehabilitation lender and managed the rehab of HUD-insured rental projects of 150 and 458 units.

From 1986 until 2008, John F. Kane, president and owner, was employed full-time as Construction Risk Manager by Community Investment Corporation (CIC), a major multi-family rehabilitation lender.

In this capacity, John supervised a staff of inspectors, outside consultants and administrative personnel. Under his guidance, this staff evaluated the construction aspects of rehab loan applications and made recommendations to the Loan Committee, inspected for and approved construction payouts and processed construction loan draws. In addition, John created The Rehab Checklist: An Apartment Building Owner’s Guide, which is still distributed to loan applicants.

These loans ranged in size from $300,000 to over $10 million and involved anywhere from 6 to 300+ units. At the time of his retirement from CIC in February, 2008, the CIC rehab loan portfolio stood at $175 million.

Once again, J. F. Kane and Company is actively serving the needs of a diverse group of participants in the construction industry.
